Three ways a good short line goes wrong, all of them about audience rather than words.
- The line that is actually a question. If you are posting a status because you want one particular person to reply, you have chosen the least reliable way to ask. WhatsApp will not tell you whether they read it and thought about it or read it and scrolled.
- The line that keeps score. Anything shaped like nobody cares is a public bill. Everyone reads it, one person feels accused, and neither result is what you wanted.

The second is four words longer and still fits the box, and it can only have been written by you. The rule holds everywhere: not chai but the tapri outside your gate, not sheher but Nagpur, not raat but 2 baje. Never the full name — an initial does the same work and does not turn your status into a screenshot.
Do it once per line. Two specific details in one one-liner and it stops being a one-liner.
