150 characters, and what the script actually costs
The Instagram bio field takes exactly 150 characters, and it counts everything: spaces, emoji, and line breaks. On a profile, only about four lines show before the rest is hidden. So the working budget is smaller than the limit, and the limit is already small.
Now the part every Hindi-bio page gets backwards. Devanagari is more character-efficient than roman, not less. A syllable that takes three or four roman letters is often one or two code points in Devanagari. Measured on real lines:

Notice the pattern down the right-hand column. The saving is large on a pure Hindi sentence and almost disappears on the last two — because playlist and plan are English words being spelled out sound by sound, which is the one thing Devanagari is inefficient at. The more English your line contains, the less the script buys you.
What Devanagari does cost is vertical room. Matras sit above and below the line, so Devanagari lines are taller, and four visible lines of Devanagari feel fuller than four of roman. Practical rule: Devanagari if the bio is a real sentence, roman if it is a list of English-ish fragments.

Three bio mistakes
- The full name. It is a small public commitment you then have to remember to undo. An initial does the same work and ages better.
- The countdown that stops updating. 2 years 3 months was accurate in March. Put the start date in instead and let the reader do the maths.
- Four emoji and no sentence. Emoji are characters too, and a bio made entirely of them says the account exists without saying anything about it.
